Pedialyte and Imodium


PEDIALYTE

Pedialyte should be offered frequently in amounts tolerated. Total daily intake should be adjusted to meet individual needs, based on thirst and response to therapy. The following suggested intakes for maintenance are based on water requirements for ordinary energy expenditure. If there is vomiting or fever, or if diarrhea continues beyond 24 hours, consult the child's physician.

IMODIUM A-D LIQUID FOR USE IN CHILDREN

Find right dose on chart. If possible, use weight to dose; otherwise, use age. (1 mg of loperamide HCI per 7.5mL)

Adults and children 12 years and over 30mL (6 tsp) after the first loose stool; 15mL (3 tsp) after each subsequent loose stool; but no more than 60mL (12 tsp) in 24 hours
Children 9-11 years (60-95 lbs) 15mL (3 tsp) after first loose stool; 7.5mL (1 1/2 tsp) after each subsequent loose stool; but no more than 45 mL (9 tsp) in 24 hours
Children 6-8 years (48-59 lbs) 15 mL (3 tsp) after first loose stool; 7.5mL (1 1/2 tsp) after each subsequent loose stool; but no more than 30mL (6 tsp) in 24 hours
